Reflect

I was at the mall this weekend waiting for a movie. I did what comes so naturally, and people watched. The first person I saw was a teenage boy. He was carrying a tray of Chinese food with one hand and holding onto his falling pants with the other. I giggled! Out loud! He was waddling, the pants were at his thighs and he just kept on strutting.

Does he think that he looks good?
Who told him that?
Wow!

Now before you judge me too harshly, I too have fallen into the trap of thinking that something looked good when it didn't. Anybody remember the poofy bangs? The permed hair? The leggings with scrunchy socks? Yep I have tried them all!
Why do we do this? Are trying to conform to what is in style? Yes!

Scripture tells us in Romans 12

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test
and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Fads will come and go, but God and his perfect will is eternal.

Where do you fall on this scale? 1=Never 10=Always

• Whatever is popular is what I gravitate towards.
• I will change my plans based upon what my friends say
• The media influences what I spend my money on
• When making decisions I consult the bible
• When making decisions I consult my friends
• I pray before I make a decision.

How did you do? Small changes can have a big impact. Ask God to help you focus more on what He wants then on what you want.

Father,

I confess to you that I have many desires for things that I haven't discussed with you. I lay them at your feet. Give me an eternal mindset, one that thinks about what your word says about possessions. Show me what you want me to have, to be to do each day. I choose to follow you today. ReNew my mind. Help me to ReFlect you. Thanks for not giggling at me too much. I love you.
