Balance-Fact or Fiction?

I have a problem! I think that I can do everything. Even when my schedule is jam packed I often say yes to more. I keep trying and trying but no matter what I do I am always a little out of balance!  Many people have told me that I must balance all of my commitments. My mother has warned me that this is not good for me!

But....

Jesus didn’t call us to live a balanced life. He called us to follow Him.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33

I feel better. I don't have to be balanced!

Who is going to tell my mom?
Looking at the Old Testament, we find tremendous illustrations of men and women who followed hard after God.

         Joseph, Moses, Joshua
       Daniel, Ruth, Esther
         And Nehemiah plus many others
    Samuel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

1. Giving Your All requires that you Seek after God
Rahab -risked everything to shelter and protect God’s people.

Where is God asking you to seek Him?

2. Giving Your All requires that you Risk.
Peter- Had to risk by trusting Jesus to supply the fish in Luke 5

Where is God asking you to Risk, to trust Him?

3. Giving your All requires that you Focus on Christ
Peter tried to walk on the water with Jesus. Unfortunately he took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at the storm. This is when he began to sink.

How is Jesus Asking you to Focus on Him?

Father, I am grateful that I can follow hard after you! Thank you for all of the men and women who served you with everything they had. I am asking for the energy and wisdom to seek after you, risk and focus on you!
Could you tell my mom that this is ok?

  1. Jesus is asking our family to focus on Him, as my nine year old faces 19 more months of chemotherapy for cancer. Thanks for the post!

  2. I totally relate, even with comments about slowing down. So thanks for the encouraging perspective.
