My First Give away- Not a Fan book

My first give away!

One of my favorite reads from 2011 is the book "Not a Fan" by Kyle Idleman.

Here is the description from the Not a Fan website.

Are you a follower of Jesus?
 Don’t answer too quickly.

In fact, you may want to read this book before you answer at all. Consider it a “Define the Relationship” conversation to determine exactly where you stand. You may indeed be a passionate, fully devoted follower of Jesus. Or, you may be just a fan who admires Jesus but isn’t ready to let him cramp your style. Then again, maybe you’re not into Jesus, period.

In any case, don’t take the question—Are you a follower of Jesus?—lightly.

Some people don’t know what they’ve said yes to and other people don’t realize what they’ve said no to, says Pastor Kyle Idleman . But Jesus is ready to clearly define the relationship he wants with his followers.

Not a Fan calls you to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple. With frankness sprinkled with humor, Idleman invites you to live the way Jesus lived, love the way he loved, pray the way he prayed, and never give up living for the One who gave his all for you.

  1. This book interests me because there are times when I'm not at all sure that I'm a faithful follower of Christ's. I would love to read what the Lord has revealed to the author about that subject. Also, I recently wrote a similar book on being a servant of God and have been wondering how much of it parallels what's been written in your book. Finally, I'm a book reviewer and would love to write a review about this book! The book review blogsite is http://gospelscribe.blogspot.com

  2. OK - so though I hate to admit it, when I read this blog about the book I thought, "is my commitment and relationship to Jesus much different than my commitment to getting healthy and fit at the beginning of every new year? Strong and determined at first, and then waning as the year goes on! Now let me clarify, I AM a follower of Christ, but what exactly does that mean in my life? Sometimes, (OK-most of the time) it is what is convenient for ME, what works in MY schedule. I desire to be passionate for Jesus, determined to let go of me and be fully devoted to HIM. Even when I'm weak and waning and just "don't feel like it", I want to be able to feel HIM inside of me and know that HE is my strength...

Now, about that fit and healthy thing :)

  6. I would love this book! I always say I'm going to get better in my relationship with God, but never do it. This sounds like a good place to start.
