Day 6
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
What I wouldn't give to have complete control over my thoughts! There are days that my mind is on full speed, processing what has happened, what could happen and what will never happen!
I have thoughts of
kindness
maliciousness
forgiveness
envy
acts of service
jealousy
faith
doubt
joy
despair
and on and on and on.
As you may notice I am quite up and down with my thoughts! I need Jesus to take control of my thoughts! I need them to be under His control and His filter!
The word Captive in 2 Corinthians means to lead away, to take captive. It denotes an action. If we are to take captive our thoughts then we must realize that we are at war with these thoughts. They can and will do damage to our lives. Our thoughts can impact our prayers, our joy and our witness.
Here is the good news today.
You do not have to fight against these thoughts alone.
Today when thoughts that do not belong in your mind make themselves known, reject them as false and ask Jesus to take them captive.
Prayer
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 2 Corinthians 2:14
