There’s been a theme in my life recently. What does it means to get close to Jesus?
All of these things have the common thread of being with Jesus.
The Bible tells us to draw near to God and he will draw near to you, abide in him and he will make His home with you, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.
All of these speak about a closeness to Jesus. Jesus himself tells us that when he leaves he will give us another, the Holy Spirit will be a comforter, our helper. He will be with us-whispering “I am close”.
But to be honest I don’t always feel close to Him and I am fully aware that He hasn’t moved. It must be me. I move away with my actions, thoughts and the directions I choose to go in my life. Inch by inch I withdraw and before I know it our friendship has been strained. It’s not as though I feel like He’s mad at me but we’re not as close as we once were.
Have you been there?
Are you there right now?
We know of God’s love, that Jesus died for us and that he desires a relationship with us but we are not as close as we once were. There is this distance that seems to be separating you from Him and you just don’t know what to do.
In this study were going to look at people who have an experienced distance from God and what God’s response was to them.
I am looking forward to growing closer to Jesus.
Want to join me for the next little while discovering how to grow closer to Jesus?
