The Fish Bowl game

Recently our small group gathered and played a game, Fish Bowl.

These are the directions.

1. Each person writes a sentence on a slip of paper. These are put in a bowl ("the fish bowl").
2.Players describe each sentence. They receive a point for each slip they get correctly. You cannot skip slips.
3. A timer is set for 2 minutes, at the end, the teams switch. This continues until all the slips have been correctly guessed.
4. Next, the slips are put back in, but this time people can only act it out (not speaking). Timer is set for 1 minute
5. Finally, the sentences are put back in and the individual trying to give away what they are can only say one word. If they say anything (e.g. "shoot", "hmmmph", "ahhh") this counts as their word and they can't skip the slip or say anything else. Game Secretary

We had so much fun! At first no one thought that they would get the sentence but amazingly, all sentences were guessed. This was no easy feat! Here is a list of some of our sentences

It is raining in the fireplace.
Gabby is skipping down the yellow brick road.
The Detroit Lions are going to the playoffs.
Chocolate covered coffee beans make me happy!
Oh say can you see?
They lived happily ever after.
It is indeed a beautiful day outside.
Snow fell on Christmas.

I noticed that as each round went by it was easier to guess the sentence because we were more acquainted with it, the sentence was familiar to us. By the third round where only one word was given as a clue, our minds quickly raced to the sentences and we were able to complete it. Even when someone said "umm", the team started rattling off the sentences and we were able to get the correct answer.

What I Learned

The more that we spend time with God getting to know Him and His word, the more we will be able understand
His ways,
His leading,
His promptings.
We will not be surprised,
Rather because we are so acquainted with Him,
Familiar of His ways,
We will be able to follow Him more fully.

I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word. Psalm 119:10-16

My Prayer Lord is this;
Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
Psalm 86:11-12
