Who's cart is that?

On a regular visit to Costco we purchased our favorites; spinach, chicken, coffee, pistachios and eggs. As we waited in line I was falling more madly in love with my husband!

Let me explain. Right in front of me like a ninja leaping into action he started unloading a grocery cart. The interesting thing is that it wasn't our cart! A woman balancing a small child on her hip attempted to place objects on the check out and was not succeeding. My husband seeing this woman in need felt compelled to help her. All I could do was smile and snap a picture.

I love that he served this woman,
because there was a need.
because he was able.
because God calls us to love others.

Watching him serve reminded me that we are all called to serve others.  At any time, in any way that we can, we are called to serve because Jesus served.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-8

  1. Hi Jann ! I happened upon your blog as I just linking up with Laura on Missional Women/Beholding Glory. I wanted to stop by and say hi !

I love that you used the Philippians 2 which tells us about Christ's humility. What an example Jesus laid for us ! Yes indeed, if we are going to be great in God's eyes, the key is to serve. Thanks for sharing this powerful reminder. God bless you and have a very beautiful Friday !
